Gloria Luca (b. 1988) is an Eastern European artist based in Madrid, working at the intersection of photography, cartography, and motion. Her practice examines how movement shapes perception across culturescapes and post-socialist spaces. In her body of work Running PhotoLab (2024–ongoing), she navigates culturescapes through alternating paces, using running as an embodied way of producing attention and knowledge. Photography operates both as evidence and research prompt, registering encounters while generating routes, returns, and further inquiry.
In 2023, Gloria was a resident researcher in Connective Tissue, a training program in Artistic Research Practices, Critical Museology, and Cultural Studies curated by Germán Labrador Méndez at the Study Centre of Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid. In 2019, she also completed the Critical Images post-master course from the Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm.
Gloria’s work has been exhibited in venues such as the Museum of Natural History of Crete, Heraklion (2022); Museu de l’Empordà, Figueres, Spain (2021); The Art Building in Vrå, Denmark (2020); Le Beffroi Cultural Centre, Montrouge, France (2019); KulturKontakt Austria, Vienna (2018), and the National Gallery – Trade Fair Palace, Prague (2015).
Gloria Luca is also the author of Dan Perjovschi: The Horizontal Newspaper – A School of Text and Image, a book published by Curtea Veche Publishing and launched in the context of Dan Perjovschi's participation in Documenta Fifteen, Kassel, Germany (2022).

Gloria Luca (n. 1988) es una artista de Europa del Este afincada en Madrid que trabaja en la intersección entre fotografía, cartografía y movimiento. Su práctica examina cómo el movimiento transforma la percepción a través de paisajes culturales y espacios postsocialistas. En su proyecto Running PhotoLab (2024–presente), navega por paisajes culturales alternando ritmos y utilizando la carrera como una forma encarnada de producir atención y conocimiento. La fotografía opera a la vez como evidencia y como punto de partida para su creación artística, registrando encuentros mientras genera rutas, retornos y nuevas preguntas de investigación.
En 2023, Gloria fue investigadora residente en Tejidos Conjuntivos, un programa de formación en Prácticas de Investigación Artística, Museología Crítica y Estudios Culturales comisariado por Germán Labrador Méndez en el Centro de Estudios del Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid. En 2019 completó también el programa de posmáster Critical Images en el Royal Institute of Art de Estocolmo.
